Vee Mukarati bids fans farewell

Saxophonist Vee Mukarati put on a splendid act as he bade farewell to his legion of fans at a concert held in the capital recently. The Zimbabwean caught up with the him on the sidelines about this journey to Ireland to study contemporary jazz music.

“I have been accepted at Newpark College, where I will do two years before moving to Berklee College for another two years,” said the elated artist. “We do have some institutions that offer music studies, like the Zimbabwe College of Music, but they are ethno-based that is why I was compelled to look somewhere else.”

“The two- year programme will instruct me in how to handle the music business. I am going to school to get guidance to be a better arranger, composer and manage the business side of music professionally,” added the 24-year-old artist, a former student of Prince Edward High, who is already a highly rated musical director. He directed the highly acclaimed opening ceremony for HIFA 2O12 and has worked with artists like Mookomba and Cde Fatso.
