Memory Moyo, who resides at Lundi Surbub in Gweru, pleaded guilty to the domestic violence charge before magistrate Peter Madiba. She was arrested in Gweru last Friday by Zvishavane police.
Tonic Mavhungu, the prosecutor, said on August 23 the accused travelled to Zvishavane to see her husband, Edgar Moyo. Upon arrival at his work, the local branch for Agrifoods, she allegedly asked for the husband’s mobile phone, intending to make a call.
However, she discovered a suspicious message which linked her husband to promiscuity and reacted by throwing boiling water on him.
Moyo will not serve her jail term after the magistrate set aside six months on condition of her good behaviour for the next five years. The other six months were also put on hold on condition that she complete 210 hours of community service.
Another Gweru woman who assaulted her husband with an iron bar over a domestic dispute is currently doing community service at Fletcher High School after being found guilty of the charge. – Brenna Matendere
