Zanu PF insincere: MDC

Zimbabwe’s Government of National Unity is failing to work because of Zanu PF’s insincerity, MDC led by Professor Welshman Ncube has said.

Speaking at a public meeting organised by the Media Centre in Harare on Wednesday, Kudakwashe Munyengiwa who was standing in for Qubani Moyo the Director for Policy and Research in the MDC, said the inclusive government was failing because of Zanu PF’s insincerity.

“The Global Political Agreement is clear on how the unity government is supposed to operate but we have an insincere party,” he said.

Munyengiwa quizzed the role of the Zanu PF politburo in the parliamentary driven constitution making process saying it was against the dictates of article 6 of the Global Political Agreement.

“Politburo has no role to play in the constitution making process, it is clearly a parliamentary process,” he added.

Responding to Munyengiwa, Goodwills Masimirembwa from Zanu PF said the select committee is managed by the management committee which is answerable to principals.

“To say it’s purely a parliamentary process is wrong, the management committee is answerable to principals who are leaders of political parties,” Masimirembwa said.

The public meeting was held under the topic, Is the Zimbabwe crisis a runaway train without destination.

The inclusive government has took centre stage in Zimbabwe since 2008 infighting among political parties stalling its progress on the new constitution, security sector reform and political stability in the country.
