Speaking to The Zimbabwean after collecting medals and certificates on behalf of the school, a jovial Gumede dedicated the award to Zimbabwe. “It’s been difficult all the way. We faced stern challenges from other excellent schools but we were just best. My students showed great commitment and dedication. This award goes to Zimbabwe who nurtured me into a good artist,” said Gumede, who is passing on his legacy to teenagers in the hope it will help preserve our culture.
His school mainly consists of Zimbabwean children and outclassed others in most categories, including dancing, drama and poetry.
