Another MDC member arrested for murdering police officer

Police have raided and arrested Jackson Mabota, the MDC Youth Assembly deputy Chairperson for Glenview South Constituency today on allegations of murdering Inspector Petros Mutedza in May last year.

According the MDC Youth Assembly spokesperson, Clifford Hlatywayo, Mabota was picked up this morning and details of his whereabouts are not yet known.

Mabota becomes the 30th MDC member to be arrested in connection with the death of the police inspector. His arrest comes a year after Madzore and 29 others have been languishing in prison.

The MDC Youth Assembly has condemned the arrest saying this is part of ZANU PF's campaign and tactics to derail the movement.

“These targeted arrests are part of ZANU PF's campaign and tactics to derail the movement especially the Youth Assembly as we are approaching the referendum and general elections to be held in not more than six months to come,” MDC Youth Assembly said.
