Silas Makumbe, the band leader who doubles as drummer and the only original founding member of the outfit, said they were looking forward to being as popular is they were when they released the song Mai Bhoyi, affectionately known as Kanyama Karipi, that was sung by the late Stobart Chidikano.
The group became a household name with the albums Zvese Mari and Nyarara. Between the two albums were such hits as Mapoto, Jane, Muhedheni as well as the title tracks.
“We are not yet a spent force. We are currently in the process of putting together our third album and we have begun live shows already to re-introduce ourselves to our fans,” said Makumbe.
The group plays Ragga Manyika music, a fusin of raga music and manyika dialect.
“We are taking our act around the country so that our fans get to have a feel and taste of our forthcoming projects. By holding these live shows, we remain competitively in the game,” said Makumbe.
The new yet-to-be-titled offering will have six tracks, which will include renditions of Mai Bhoyi and Here Rudo as well as Ndakudaidza and Rudo. The latter track is already proving to be a sing-along crowd favourite.
