This backdrop has constituted the basis for the demand for the creation of a Preparedness Committee which shall take care of residents’ health related concerns. The association proposes that the Committee should compromise a Health Services Department and other stakeholders in Disaster Risk Reduction.
Throughout the meetings carried out by the association to raise awareness on the current water situation, a lot of concerns have emerged, notably on the vulnerability of residents towards diseases and the unpreparedness of the City to curb such threats. Whether the Committee should be part of the Water Crisis Committee or not that would be up to the BCC’s discretion and wisdom or an all stakeholders’ consultation process to decide.
It is the hope of the BPRA that this will be strongly considered by the city fathers as of most urgent need and for the future protection of our city and its residents.
