Macfest trains female artists

The fifth Midlands Arts Culture Festival (Macfest) organised a workshop for female artists at Midlands State University last week to polish women’s talents in the showbiz industry.

The participants were drawn from Zvishavane, Kwekwe and Shurugwi. The workshop targeted performing artists in singing, acting and debating where they directly interact with the audience.

Fiesta Director, Joe Wailer said the aim was to afford female artists in the province a chance to network among themselves. “Our main aim is to afford female artists a platform to glow like fire and let them take the centre stage. Formal training and organised discussion was lacking, hence this platform for them to share notes and establish networks,” Wailer said.

Pamberi Trust is assisting artists financially and technically.“As we celebrate achievements we need to recognise that where we are coming from matters less than where we are going, hence at one point these networks are a creation of the foundation we really needed for us to get started. And the coming of Pamberi Trust is really a privilege for every artist in the province,” he added.
