The Zimbabwean is reliably informed that the party’s security body has been complaining to the national council for not adequately financing them. Recently, the intelligence unit, considered vital in MDC-T’s strategic plan, asked for $100 million to fund its numerous activities that are in limbo because of severely poor funding.
An informed source within the party said that the intelligence unit was guarding against Zanu (PF) members whom they suspected to be Central Intelligence Organisation frombeing planted in MDC-T.
“The intelligence unit claims that the party was becoming a dust bin for expelled Zanu (PF) politicians and CIO agents like the former Zanu (PF) Women’s League political commissar, Tracy Mutinhiri, and PM’s wife Locadia Karimatsenga, respectively,” said the source.
MDC-T spokesperson, Douglas Mwonzora acknowledged the complaints from the intelligence department, but refuted the claim that they were sidelining it.
“It is not true that the party is sidelining the intelligence unit or ignoring its advice. We have listened to their views but we consider people who come to the party on their individual merit and capacity. We are aware of their (the unit’s) complaints but as an employer, we are affected by a poorly performing economy,” he said.
