According to highly placed sources who attended the meeting, it was agreed that young women would be used as bait to get to Nyandoro.
“An army Colonel only identified as Kashiri last week addressed Zanu (PF) youths and declared Marondera East a no go area for MDC officials such as Nyandoro. Nyandoro was described as a youthful mayor with a lust for beautiful women,” said the source.
Nyandoro’s pictures were distributed to youths in the area. The mayor said he would not be bullied in his home area.
Recently, he unveiled 21 tombstones for departed relatives. The ritual event attracted more than 1, 000 mourners from surrounding villages.
“Zanu (PF) misintepretted the traditional event as a political campaign strategy by Nyandoro,” said a source.
