Tafadzwa Munyaradzi decided to do both. He established a business that is successfully providing customer service within the asset tracking industry, with cutting edge fleet tracking solutions – at the same time providing jobs for unemployed youths.

In 2008, at the age of 29, he founded Taffiecomms Company, run by a team of young professionals with diverse backgrounds. Its aim is to develop and provide advanced customised tracking and fleet management solutions, based on Global Positioning System technology. While on attachment at Air Zimbabwe Telecoms department, he earned the name Taffiecomms from friends.

The company is now penetrating East Africa. “We have been working hard to meet the standards here and in neighbouring countries. Our strategic partners in East Africa have over five years industry experience in Remote Asset Monitoring and Management and are currently monitoring over 3,500 assets in real time across East, Central and Horn of Africa,” he said.

The company provides anti-hijack, theft recovery, control, monitoring, asset management, security and fleet management solutions. Clients can track any asset of value such as private cars, company fleets, transport and logistics fleets, and delivery vehicles 24 hours a day, seven days a week from anywhere in the world via a secure web based application.

“We developed remote asset management software and built a strategic alliance with National Eye Security, the fastest growing security company in Zimbabwe. Our research and development department keeps us abreast with the latest technologies and world trends,” he added.

Munyaradzi is also a member of Africa Christian Business Fellowship, an international business forum which trains and equips entrepreneurs.

“ACBF has become a very strong support network for Taffiecomms,” said Munyaradzi, who encountered many difficulties as a young entrepreneur in a market with many established players who have been in existence for a long time.

“The process of overcoming this issue is on-going. We focus on extensive face-to-face presentations to corporates to demonstrate our focus, drive, passion, vision and industry knowledge.” His aim is to have Taffiecomms operating in at least five countries by December 2016. He wants to be an influential philanthropist and become a key figure in championing entrepreneurship development in Africa.
