Table tennis star takes the mic

Former Table Tennis champion Robert Zimba has released his debut album entitled ‘Something Different’. An acclaimed Jazz Bass guitarist, Zimba’s album cherishes golden oldies from a time when the country was dubbed the bread basket of Africa.

“Zimbabwe is one of the best countries on earth and we need to reminisce about the good old days. Our past is our heritage – youngsters must be indoctrinated on heritage issues through music. They have to know how their elders socialised music years ago.

All my songs highlight social issues and I am happy that before the official launching of my album fans are already scrambling for it. I announced its release on social networking sites and have already sold plenty of copies,” said Zimba.

He has played bass guitar for prominent jazz group The Jazz Impacto. He has also featured for South African Jazz groups Dorkay House Jazz Band and ‘Sweet Poison.

Zimba was the first black Zimbabwean to represent the country at the World Table Tennis Championships in Tokyo, Japan 1983.
