On Tuesday afternoon, Mliswa allegedly grabbed a camera from a technician who was covering Chapter 18 of the draft constitution.
It is reported by eye witnesses that Mliswa told the camera person not to film him as the proceedings had already finished.
“He was not happy to be filmed so he snatched the camera from the technician before disappearing with it,” said a delegate who declined to be named.
COPAC Select Committee, Chairperson of Information and Publicity Jessey Majome said Mliswa took the camera in the presents of the police who stood aloof.
“It is funny that when Mliswa took the camera we called the police to stop him but they could not do anything to stop him,” she said.
Zanu (PF) COPAC Co-chairperson Paul Mangwana when asked about the case during a press conference said there was nothing unusually in that incident as Mliswa just took away the camera.
“That is not theft, but just that two people had a misunderstanding which resulted in one taking something from the other and went away with it,” said Mangwana who was interjected by journalists who questioned him to describe that action.
MDC-T COPAC Co-chairperson, Douglas Mwonzora came in to rescue his co-chair saying “COPAC does not condone any behavior that is criminal or unbecoming and we are dealing with the case,” he said.
He assured that the relevant information of the reports in the video camera had already been secured before the incident.
“The reports of that thematic area in question have already been submitted and are in the safe hands of COPAC,” he added.
The second all stakeholders’ conference has been described by the all COPAC Co-chairperson’s including MDC-N Edward Mkhosi as successful and peaceful.
“The Parliamentary Constitution Select Committee has successfully convened the Second All Stakeholders’ Conference to table the draft constitution in terms of Article 6 of the Global political Agreement.
“The conference, held in a peaceful atmosphere, was attended by key figures in the government of national unity, President Robert Mugabe and Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai,” they said in a joint statement.
