Volleyball association formed

A group of volleyball coaches from four districts in this province have joined hands to form the Manicaland Volleyball Association, which becomes the third province to do that, after Bulawayo and Harare Metropolitan Provinces.

The newly-assembled association’s executive committee has Farai Mboto as chairperson, Marshalton Sada as vice chairperson-administration, while Walter Koffi is vice chairperson-technical.

The executive committee has a mammoth task ahead of the season, chief among them being fundraising for struggling volleyball teams in the province and the distribution of equipment lying idle at the National Volleyball Association. The establishment of vibrant volleyball teams in the province also remains one of the major priorities.

“In coming up with the committee, we also had to make some constitutional changes, given the fact that the new constitution demands that for an association to be formed, there should be at least three districts present with an establishment,” said Sports and Recreation Commission provincial coordinator, Shupikai Berejena after the appointment of the new executive.
