ZBC dragged to court

Mutare businessman, Beaven Mutamangira, has dragged the national broadcaster to the constitutional court over television and radio licences.

Mutamangira, who is the director of Eden Lodge in Vumba, had appeared before Mutare Magistrate Annia Ndiraya to answer charges of contravening Section 38 (b) as read with Section 38E of the Broadcasting Services Act Chapter 12:06.

He was asked to pay Z$4,950 in unpaid licenses before making an urgent application for his matter to be taken to the upper court. Mutamangira argued that he was not obliged to pay the licence fees as his gadgets did not receive the broadcaster’s signals.
