Striker Munashe Magumbu was crowned the academy’s Under-8 Player of the Year, following an outstanding performance.

“This is a great honour for me and I wish that one day I will play for the Zimbabwe national team and also live on soccer,” said the only Zimbabwean player in the academy. His mentor, Tendai Nyathi, said if given a proper training and development base, the beefy boy would become the future of the Zimbabwean game.

“He is very intelligent and has advantage of body, skill and pace. He is a complete player in the mould of former national team striker, Agent Sawu. I urge ZIFA to keep tabs of his progress so that they rope him into junior football squads at an early stage because he can do anything with the ball. If they don’t do that, we risk losing him to South Africa,” said Nyathi.

His father, Tinashe, said he would support his son all the way. “I am very proud of him. He has shown signs of a football genius and what he does on pitch is just amazing. All I can promise is to help him achieve even better things by giving him the emotional, financial and material support he needs to succeed as a player,” he said.
