Multiple award winning music artist and producer, Jusa will co-host the event alongside former Miss Zimbabwe UK and Miss Malaika UK winner Primrose Mutsigiri. Live music will be provided by the fabulous Bkay and Kazz, fresh off the successful launch of their new video “Tendi”, nominated in the video of the year category. The Kamikaze Test Pilots, led by Zimbabwean brothers Ryan and Wes Niemandt will up the tempo with their unique blend of Zimbabwean guitar and rock genres. Young and vibrant Acapella choral group, Higher Ground Acapella and ZIMAA UK 2011 Gospel Artist of the Year Mantongande will provide the soul food with their gospel tunes.
In a first, ZIMAA UK will be debuting two of the hottest stand-up comedy prospects Artemas Muzanenhamo and Wayne Mazadza to provide the laughs. Scotland based Wayne is widely tipped to be one of the future stars of stand-up comedy in Britain having won numerous awards in his brief career. Artemas on the other hand has a highly subscribed Youtube channel where he demonstrates his “to the point” observational comedy lampooning Zimbabwean mannerisms. Faith Centre’s Pastor Vee Ndlovu will be in attendance to share some encouraging words with the artists and guests.
The organisers, The RUI Group believe since last year’s event there has been significant change in direction in how Zimbabwean artists are perceived in the UK by their country folk as well as well as their local communities. “Following on from our debut last year, we have noticed a large increase in the number of new artists as well as a marked improvement in the quality of the work on show” the organisers said. This is evidenced by a record number of nominees in the traditionally competitive categories of Male Artist of the Year and DJ of the Year.
The Organiser are excited to announce that the Mbira legend and Zimbabwe arts icon Mbuya Stella Chiweshe will be also be attending to receive the lifetime Achievement award for her pioneering work in bringing Zimbabwean traditional music to a European audience and the continued cultural ambassador role.
