Mwenga enjoyed a terrific first season in the top flight, firmly establishing himself as the next great thing to emerge from the eastern city of Mutare since Willard Katsande.
The 20-year-old was a thorn in the flesh for the Dynamos defence when the two teams clashed in a league encounter last week, looking threatening each time he gained possession in enemy territory.
A Buffaloes official has confirmed that the former Zimbabwe Under-20 international was unlikely to feature for the army side next season.
“People have been talking about him wherever we have played. When we faced Highlanders in Bulawayo, some of their officials followed us after the match to inquire about his availability,” said the offical.
“CAPS United have also expressed interest, but none of the clubs has made a firm bid yet. The reality though is that he has done very well and we are likely to lose his services during the off season.”
That would be bad news for Coach Saul Chaminuka. “He is a very good player and I don’t want to lose him because he is the pivot around whom I intend to build my team for next season,” said Chaminuka.
