Chidzambwa is one of the 15 players and officials who have been banned for life by the Zimbabwe Football Association following recommendations by the Zifa Ethics Committee.

The Asiagate scandal has also seen Chidzambwa relieved of his position as coach of Absa Premiership club Black Leopards and has been handed the post of technical director.

A technical director does not handle the day to day running of the team in training but is more of a consultant on team matters.

Despite the life ban, Chidzambwa is still allowed to continue with football activities until the Zifa sanctions are ratified by Fifa. Fifa have asked for more information on the Asiagate scandal before it can make its decision.

The chairman of Black Leopards David Thidiela has reiterated the club's support to the beleaguered coach in his fight to clear his name.

"After having observed the situation, we feel that Chidzambwa will be cleared of any wrongdoing," Thidiela said.

Chidzambwa chose not to appear before the independent Zifa Ethics Committee after challenging the composition of the panel at the Zimbabwe High Court.

Chidzambwa is widely regarded as the most successful coach in Zimbabwean football history after leading Zimbabwe to their first ever Africa Cup of Nations finals in 2004 and also having led Dynamos to the final of the Caf Champions League in 1998.

He also won two Cosafa championships with the Warriors.
