Comedian speaks on death scare

Fast-rising comedian David Mubaiwa, famed for his comic drama “Sabhuku Vharazipi”, has put to rest widespread speculation that he had passed away in a car accident a fortnight ago.

Social media sites were awash with reports that the star had died in a car accident on his way home after attending Alick Macheso’s show at Club Oasis. Mubaiwa (32) said he was shocked to see people sending his family condolence messages.

“I don’t know who is behind these lies or what the motive is. I now fear for my life,” he said. Wellington Chingara, who also features in the comic drama, was devastated by the alleged death of his colleague.

“I’m shocked to where people are getting this entire false story. It probably emanated from his detractors who want to see his acting career crumble,” Chingara said.

Mubaiwa stars as the greedy and adulterous headman in comic drama “Sabhuku Vharazipi.”He joins veteran musician Leonard Zhakata who was once falsely announced to be dead on the national television broadcaster – ZBC in the 90s.
