Zimbabwe Republic Police Harare provincial spokesperson, Insp Tedious Chibanda, said the incident occurred on Tuesday evening.
“At around 1800 hours on Tuesday, a 48- year-old man who resides in New Marlborough shot himself dead near Mazowe Road in the area,” he said.
It is reported that the deceased called his cousin brother to meet him at Mapereke Road near Mazowe Road who then went there with the deceased second wife.
Upon arriving, he said, they discovered that the deceased had locked himself in the car saying and, upon seeing them, he reportedly announced: “It’s better for me to die”, but did give reasons why.
After saying this, the deceased is alleged to have bolted out of the car holding a pistol and suddenly shot himself dead on the head.
“It is suspected that deceased had social problems as he was in the process of divorcing his first wife,” Chibanda said.
Inspector Chibanda said investigation were still in progress to establish the real circumstances around the shooting incident “As police, we urge members of the public to seek help from other people, be it from the family or the general public, if they have social problems. Suicide is not a solution,” he said.
