More charges for Gokwe MDC-T MP

More charges have been laid against Gokwe - Kabuyuni MDC-T MP, Costin Muguti.

Currently he is on $400 bail for a culpable homicide case in which he is accused of running over a 12-year-old child. Last month, the legislator, together with his Zhombe counterpart, Rodgers Tazviona, were convicted by a Kwekwe magistrate for threatening Chief Samambwa with unspecified action. The two were fined $ 80.

In the latest development, Muguti, 38, and Shadreck Kana, 33, have been before magistrate Shepherd Mjanja facing a charge of public violence which allegedly happened in 2008.

It is alleged that on March 25, 2008 Zanu (PF)’s Simuchembo ward 30 councillor, Finos Sibanda, held a rally at Zumba business centre, Gokwe. Muguti and his colleague allegedly invaded the place and started chanting MDC slogans. It is further alleged that the two went on to throw stones at the attendants of the rally.

Earlier this year, Muguti told The Zimbabwean that the charges he was facing were trumped up and an attempt by Zanu (PF) to punish him for exposing their torture base at Manoti.
