These MPs had long declared that they belonged to MDC-Mutambara, not MDC-Ncube, so for him to then make an announcement that he has fired them from his party demonstrates desperation and frustration at the rate at which his party is crumbling.
According to media reports, he has moved beyond the joke of firing people who do not belong to his party to wanting to have them removed from Parliament. Wind back to 2005 when the original MDC split into MDC-T and MDC-M, none of the MDCs ever made an attempt to fire parliamentarians from the other side.
What then has gone into the learned Professor Ncube’s mind to want to fire parliamentarians who were elected under the leadership of MDC-Mutambara.
Or does he want to give Zanu (PF) the majority in Parliament so that when the Constitutional is brought before it, that party can have their way?
Ncube should seriously re-think his decision and behave like a gentleman. He should leave the MPs to continue to represent the people who elected them for the remainder of their term. He has all the space he needs to campaign in the respective constituencies, otherwise people will start to think that his claims that he has already put in place structures are incorrect. – Benjamin Chitate, New Zealand
