Bridget collapsed during the burial of her sister Sabina Mugabe more than two years ago and has been on a life support system at Parirenyatwa hospital ever since.
President Mugabe’s nephew, Leo Mugabe, who is also reported to be unwell, has appealed to Zimbabweans to pray for his aunt.
“I would be pleased if people of Zimbabwe could set a consistent programme to pray for her,” Leo said in an interview.
President Mugabe and his large delegation of state security agents and officials regularly visit Parirenyatwa Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit where Bridget is admitted.
“Each time the President is around, entrances to the hospital wards are blocked and visitors are not allowed to go in or out,” said a senior doctor at the hospital.
He said only carefully selected specialist doctors and nurses were allowed to attend to Bridget.
According to a close relative, Bridget was not showing signs of recovery.
