Chinhoyi magistrate Fanuel Nyakudya, sentenced Kagonye to two months in prison with the option of a $100 fine. Kagonye was also slapped with a further suspended sentence of six months imprisonment on condition he does not commit a similar offence within the next five years.
Kagonye was represented by Kudzai Choga, who was acting under the auspices of the Media Lawyers Network (MLN).
Background
Kagonye was arrested on 6 November 2012 on allegations of operating a media house without a licence.
