Tazvitya teams up with Moyo

New kid on the block Maizon Tazvitya has teamed up with an experienced colleague, former Afrika Revenge member Mehluli “Taz” Moyo, to try and transform the music landscape in the town that has for long been quiet.

The 27-year-old Tazvitya, backed by the group The Ancient Tribes, has just thrown his hat into the showbiz fraternity with the release of a debut album entitled Ziya (Sweat). He said his collaboration with Taz meant a lot not only to him but also to jazz lovers.

“Taz has been in the industry before me; he has seen a lot, which means jazz lovers in Zimbabwe really have something pretty good to look at. We worked with experienced people and we took our time to put everything together. We wanted nothing but the best,” said Tazvitya.

Tazvitya’s compositions are in Shona, Ndebele, Chi Chewa and English and focus on love and social issues. His backing group, Ancient Tribes, is made up of four males and two females and is being managed by former Amakhosi Academy student Blessing Masora.

One might be forgiven for thinking that the album was done by Afrika Revenge as the influence of the Wanga hit makers is heavy on all the songs.
