Warriors drop in world rankings

Zimbabwe’s Warriors have crashed heavily on the Fifa world rankings and are now out of the world’s top 100 following the computerised ratings released by the world football controlling body on Wednesday.

The Warriors are now placed 106th on the globe, from 98th the last time the rankings were updated and have also slipped heavily in Africa where they are now on 25th position, 4 rungs down.

This followed the Warriors’ 2-0 defeat at the hands of Angola in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier that also saw the Warriors eliminated from the run for a place at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Ironically, the Warriors were 106th before beating Angola 3-1 at Rufaro Stadium and jumped to 98th.

Ivory Coast, Algeria, Mali, Ghana and Zambia occupy the top places in Africa. Mauritania who are placed on the 206th position in the world are Africa’s lowest ranked football nation.

Spain remain the top football team in the world followed by Germany, England, Uruguay, and Portugal while Brazil, once the most dominant football force, are still out of the top 10 at 13th position.
