A top Zanu (PF) official identified as Colonel Kashiri told party youths at Jani Farm to apply for land. “Kashiri, who spearheads Zanu (PF) terror campaigns in Marondera East, urged party youths to urgently forward applications for land ownership through the District Administrator’s offices. He said whites were conducting illegal MDC meetings at the small plots, leaving Zanu (PF) with no choice but to grab the plots and parcel them out to party loyalist youths,” said a youth who attended the meeting last week.
To hoodwink youths into campaigning and voting for Zanu (PF), Kashiri urged youths to forward job applications through his office for employment in the army, police and the air force.
“There will be a massive recruitment by the armed forces before the coming elections. As Zanu (PF) youths, you are encouraged to join the armed forces and help defend the country against possible foreign invasions. I would be available to facilitate your inscription into the respected uniformed forces,” Kashiri reportedly promised the youths.
Last month, aspiring Zanu (PF) parliamentary candidate for Marondera East, Police Chief Superintendent Jeremiah Chiwetu of Harare Province, promised youths in the constituency jobs in the defence forces.
“I am a top cop and would use my influence to have you conscripted into either the police or army. Commander Defence Forces, General Constantine Chiwenga, is my close ally. I would use that relationship to have you employed by the state,” Chiwetu told party supporters at Nhowe Business Centre.
