The youth international believes it is high time the under-achieving current crop handed over the baton to younger players, who are not tainted by the damning “Asiagate”, which has thrown into disarray the future of several players.
“I think that is the best thing ZIFA has ever done and the nation can now focus on younger players,” said the 22-year-old Kaizer Chiefs striker. We have a strong base to build a strong team for the future. We have quite a number of talented youngsters playing both in Zimbabwe and abroad, some of who have played together since national Under-17 level. I believe we have what it takes to work together. I am grateful to the older generation, but I believe their time is up now. They should let us take over.”
The country is still coming to terms with the Warriors’ failure to qualify for next year’s Afcon, to be held in South Africa between January and February.
