ZPS unhappy with ZBC DJs

The Zimbabwe Prison Services has accused ZBC radio disk jockeys of stealing the credit from their arts group by attributing songs from their album to gospel musician Blessing Shumba, who featured as a guest artist on the project.

Blessing Shumba categorically stated that ‘Munamato Wangu’ is not his album.

The DJs have been misinforming the public by attributing songs from “Munamato Wangu”- a project done by Mutare Remand Prison arts group Mansa to Shumba.

The gospel star publicly set the record straight in an interview with The Zimbabwean, saying Mansa should be credited for the album – but the public broadcaster has refused to do so. This has demoralised the inmates who are part of the music group.

Authorities at ZPS provincial offices attempted to clarify the matter with ZBC, but their efforts have been in vain as the album is no longer getting airplay.

“Our last option is to shoot a DVD video album of ‘Munamato Wangu’ to enlighten the country on those rightfully responsible for the album, maybe it might help,” said the ZPS provincial public relations officer Liberty Mhlanga.
