
He said this discriminated against most former players, who usually hung up their boots at an average age of 35.
“The Zifa constitution is state designed to protect the interests of those who have money, but with no love and vision for the game at all,” said the former Darryn’T and Caps United star.
“That clause must be removed because what it means is that the former players can only challenge for the post at a minimum age of 45 years, 10 of which must have been dedicated to administering the game. Former players know what it takes to build winning teams.”
He also criticised another clause that bars a vote of no confidence in the person who is at the helm of the soccer governing body by his board.
“Once one is elected into office, a vote of no confidence is not allowed, meaning the big fish are protecting their own interests and can under-perform knowing that they will only be challenged during elections when their terms of office come to an end. That really betrays the whole essence of democracy.”
