The scribes, who converged at a training workshop in Kadoma last week, said they were willing to write about the good side of Zanu (PF) policies, provided it was justified by the situation on the ground.
“It is wrong for Zanu (PF) to label journalists especially those from private media houses, as unpatriotic. We cannot write favourably about something which is not supported by facts. Zanu (PF) must come up with evidence that it’s so-called black empowerment policies are bearing fruits for the poor,” said the journalists.
They were reacting to accusations which bordered on insults from Zanu (PF) deputy director for information, Psychology Mazivisa, who labelled journalists as shameless and unpatriotic people, furthering a foreign imperialist agenda.
He challenged media houses to reflect the true picture of Zanu (PF) as a non-violent party, claiming: “We do not want our sweet 2013 election victory to be wrongfully tainted with false accusations of violence. The election will be a clean sweep for Zanu (PF). No MDC legislator will survive the election.”
