Sources close to both club and player revealed to The Zimbabwean recently that the talented but wayward defender could join the “Chilli Boys” within the next few weeks.
“We are still finalizing a few things with Makonese and very soon he should be announced as our player,” said a Chippa source. “We really need his talent and experience to take us further off the bottom half of the log table. We believe in his abilities as an experienced defender.”
Makonese would neither confirm nor deny the reports, but said he would “definitely” be back in action in the Absa Premiership by January.
“I cannot say anything now, but please call Chippa for any information that you need, but I will be registered with a South African topflight club by next month,” said the man who has previously starred for The Zimbabwe Warriors.
Chippa spokesman, Wanda Mbenguzana said refused to comment on the issue, saying the second-bottom side in the league would make an announcement in due time.
