ZIFA have disbanded the whole team and employed a German coach, who is tasked with trying to revive the Warriors’ otherwise waning fortunes. Despite all these challenges, Mambare, who was part of the team that participated in the Angola debacle that threw Zimbabwe out of the 2013 Afcon, said recently that there was still hope.
“New stars are being born every day, so we must not lose hope. We simply need to put past failures at the back of our minds and commit all our energies to future campaigns,” he told The Zimbabwean recently.
The former Motor Action playmaker added that in a drive for future success, Zimbabweans needed to pull together in one direction and focus on the 2014 World Cup qualifiers that resume in March next year.
“Sometimes failure by one department – be it the players, technical team, Zifa or management, can be catastrophic,” he said.
