Musindo, who runs Destiny of Africa Network, recently told home seekers during a handover of residential stands near Natvest industrial site that they should support President Robert Mugabe and Zanu (PF) if they ever want to own a house in the city.
Sources at the local authority said Musindo was accessing land through the Minister of Local government and Urban Development, Ignatius Chombo
“When we go to vote in the next election everyone here will be using his own address at the polls to vote for President Mugabe. You will be proud owners of your houses. We need 5 000 people. We are going to talk to Dr Chombo to give us more land in the city for our supporters,” he said.
According to statistics, the council housing waiting list backlog stands at 48 000.
Sources at the local authority said Msindo was accessing land through the Minister of Local government and Urban Development, Ignatius Chombo.
Innocent Gonese of MDC-T is the incumbent legislator for Mutare central constituency.
Residents said only Zanu (PF) card carrying members were accessing stands from Destiny of Africa housing cooperative.
“If you are not politically connected to Zanu (PF), then you are not eligible for a stand,” said one resident who declined to be named. Residents said they would not be pushed to vote for Zanu (PF) by certain individuals with a political agenda.
