Thousands of young people thronged the exhibition stands where they interacted with their peers and shared experiences. They also took time for social responsibility and distributed various HIV/AIDS educational materials.
The youth had the opportunity to learn more about the work of Youth Agenda around sexual and reproductive health among other areas of its programming. Youth Agenda also showcased the various projects that it is doing in line with the broader goal of an HIV free generation. Youth were entertained through a number lot of activities, from music and dance, quiz among other edutainment activities.
The highlight of the exhibitions saw Youth Agenda compiling information that will be used to craft the organisation’s action plan for 2013-2015. Youth Agenda district membership, councilors, civil society leaders and other youth organisations participated at the exhibitions which.
Various campaign materials were distributed to the youth such as books and t-shirts with messages aimed at encouraging behaviour change among the youth.
The exhibitions are part of a project Youth Agenda is doing in enhancing the life skills of young people including HIV and AIDS and the outcomes this exercise will inform Youth Agenda’s broader programming into the other 20 districts across the country.
Since 2007, Youth Agenda Trust has been working with communities in 22 districts countrywide carrying out programmes aimed at educating the youth on sexual and reproductive health, particularly its link with HIV and AIDS.
