The development comes at a time when the country is preparing to host the UN World Tourism Organisation conference slotted for Victoria Falls in August next year.
The province has several potential tourism centres that have not been publicised sufficiently since the turn of the millennium. These include Antelope Park, White Waters, Dutchman Pool and the Boterekwa escarpment near Shurugwi.
ZTA has since set up provincial offices to develop the areas.
Tourism minister Walter Mzembi said every part of the country was a potential tourist destination, adding that the sector could turn the economy around if more emphasis was put on it.
The Midlands Governor, Jason Machaya, welcomed the ZTA’s move to develop tourism in the province.
“This marks a significant milestone in furthering the partnership and relationship between ZTA and the Midlands tourism industry as well as the province at large,” he said.
