Tonderai Chifamba, who was not represented, pleaded guilty and was given a wholly suspended 27-month imprisonment by provincial magistrate, Shingi Mutiro. Three months were aside on condition that Chifamba does not commit a similar offence in the next five years while four months were suspended on condition of good behavior.
Chifamba will now perform 140 hours of community service. He told the court that he made a report under the influence of alcohol. He gave Kelvin Madzivire $380 which he reported to the police had been robbed. In giving the sentence, magistrate said misleading police was a serious offence and culprits must be punished.
