From the terraces

AFCON

This year’s edition of the continental football showpiece in South Africa is drab. There is less interests of it from fans. The big teams and big names are not in there. The organisers should read between the lines – it was a bad idea to stage it again this year. – Gerald Mkosi, Johannesburg.

Zambia will be the only southern African team to make us proud again this year. From how South Africa played against Cape Verde in the opening match it doesn’t look like they will go far in this tournament. – Willard T, Pretoria.

Bafana Bafana should be careful. They may disappoint their fans who are bound to end up watching other teams sharing a piece of the cake at their own backyard. – Farai Machingura, Harare.

South Africa should not have volunteered to host the AFCON tournament without agreeing with their other provinces. It is embarrassing for a nation like that to see other cities like Cape Town not willing to host the games. -Aaron Matamba, Chitungwiza.

I am strongly behind Zambia in the Africa Cup of Nations. I would love to watch them defend their title. They deserved it last time and I feel it is only right for them to retain it since their romance with it was cut short by the rescheduling of the tournament. -Godfrey P, Norton.

Monomotapa

I would like to urge the owners of Monomotapa to buy new skilled players to take the team to dizzy heights. Victory once tasted should be our daily bread. We want the League Championship back. Let’s even call back Norman Mapeza. -Darlington Dombodema, Tafara.

Dynamos

I wish my Glamour Boys a glamorous 2013. We are the champions and we will always be. We are behind you in full force Pasuwa and your boys. -Shadreck Zuze, Mufakose.
