Events spokesperson Tirivashe Nheweyembwa, said the athletes would participate in eight categories, which include the visually impaired, intellectually challenged and five – aside football for those with hearing challenges.
He said Mkoba Teachers’ College would host the games, whose launch is expected to be done at a fundraising dinner dance being arranged by the Local Organizing Committee in the Midlands.
“Since the LOC was inducted last November, we have managed to draw up a budget of $300,000 to support the games, so are still appealing for support in both cash and kind,” said Simon Masaka, the Sports and Recreation Commission’s Acting Manager for the Southern Region.
