Mazarura completes at Ajax Cape Town

Former national team shot-stopper, Ephraim Mazarura, this week completed a week-long trial at ABSA Premiership side, Ajax Cape Town, where he seems to have impressed.

“I really enjoyed my stay here and the reception was very good. They have great facilities and the officials wanted me to extend my stay for another week, but I have to go back to Swaziland for a continental outing before I think of returning,” said the former Black Rhinos goalkeeper early this week. Mazarura, also a notable scorer from free kicks and the penalty spot, is now back in Swaziland, where his club, Mbabane Swallows, need him as they prepare for a CAF Champions League outing away to Zanaco of Zambia next month.

“Swallows would not release me for another week because they need me in preparing for the Champions League. They however, said they were open for negotiations should Ajax be interested in my services. They seem to believe in my capabilities and I am hopeful of landing a deal here,” added the confident goalkeeper, who has scored 10 goals for Swallows this season alone.

A senior member of the Ajax technical department confirmed this week that Mazarura could soon be joining “The Urban Warriors” soon, after he impressed the technical staff and will be soon joining the club.
