MDC to launch policy document

The MDC led by Professor Welshman Ncube will launch its national policy document next month that outlines how the party will run Zimbabwe’s affairs when it gets into power.

MDC Secretary for Policy, Qhubani Moyo, told The Zimbabwean that the party intended to ensure full utilisation of local resources for the benefit of the people.

“As a focused people’s party we are launching a national policy document, which will help us put in place mechanisms to ensure all Zimbabweans benefit fully from the country’s resources,” said Moyo.

He said MDC realised that people should be directly involved in the economic affairs of their country.

“The major thrust of the policies is to promote people’s participation in social, economic and political affairs of their mother land. As a country we must harness our human resources scattered all over the globe and turn them into sustainable capital,” he said.

Moyo said the policy document is in three categories.

“The first policy will outline how the MDC participative government would liberalise and expand the media. State institutions will be rejuvenated, rule of law put in place and power separated, among other things.”

The participative economic policy would ensure people from across the political divide and all walks of life, play a major role in economic sectors such as mining and agriculture.

The third aspect of the policy document explores national policies for sustainable reconstruction. “Human aspects and requirement such as health, education, recreation, language and culture will be given due attention by our government.”

Moyo said the party manifesto would be extracted from aspects of the policy document. He said a people-driven party like the MDC should put people at the centre of economic, social and political activities.
