Musona is safe: Mbwando

Former Warriors defender, George Mbwando, has dispelled fears about the future of striker, Knowledge Musona.

This follows recent reports that Musona was on the verge of returning to South Africa because he had allegedly failed to make it in the Bundesliga side since joining TSG Hoffenheim from Kaizer Chiefs in the 2011-12 season.

The former Blackpool and Alemannia Aachen defender told The Zimbabwean earlier this week that the young marksman was playing well and that Augsburg were weighing up options for a permanent move for the on-loan TSG Hoffeinheim striker.

“I am always with the Augsburg first team coach, who happens to be a very close admirer of Musona’s,” said Mbwando.

Mbwando added that the “Smiling Assassin” had actually played well during the
short time he had been at Augsburg.

“For an African player to come to Germany and command a first team jersey is not easy. Considering Knowledge’s age, he has managed to defy the odds. In the few games I have watched him play, he has performed very well.
Any African player has to play in the Bundesliga for at least one and half seasons to reach were Musona is at the moment.”

He called on support for Musona instead of trying to find ways to bring him down. Mbwando played for a decade in Germany and knows the challenges better than most Zimbabwean footballers.
