Moyo, who took over leadership of the Sungura music outfit after the death of his father, Tongai Moyo, is battling to assert ownership of Lot 4A, Plot 15 farm in Sherwood Block.
According to court papers filled by three complainants, Ngonidzashe Gwatsvaire and brothers Leslie and Emmanuel Madovi, the musician visited the farm last month. Upon arrival, he advised the Madovi brothers that his father had been allocated the land during the controversial land reform programme.
However, the brothers denied the statement, leading to an exchange of harsh words. At that point, it is alleged that Moyo picked up a stone and hit Ngonidzashe Gwatsvaire on the elbow. He also allegedly damaged a tractor parked nearby.
Moyo is now facing three criminal offences: assault, malicious injury to property and theft. Magistrate Letwin Rwodzi is expected to preside over the matter.
