Sibanda tipped for success

Harare City’s new signing, Zibusiso Sibanda, has been tipped to be one of the country’s best future players.

He proved to be one of the most promising defenders last season, when he turned out for Bulawayo-based Quelaton, who were eventually relegated from the PSL. He is a solid centre-half, comfortable enough on the ball to also play as a defensive linkman.

“He did very well for us and we are confident that he will continue his development at Harare City,” said Quelaton President, Tawanda Ruzive, confirming the player’s departure.

“He is a very good player, technically sound and hardworking. He is definitely national team material and I am certain that he can do a good job for the Warriors, as they start rebuilding.”

Quelaton coach, Farai Sibanda, has previously likened the 22-year-old to former Warriors great, Paul Gundani, for his physical build.

Meanwhile, Harare City also hope to sign CAPS United discard, Charles Chiutsa and defender Brighton Dube, who has turned out for Highlanders and FC Platinum in the past. The duo is currently training with the club. Coach, Bigboy Mawiwi was however, more interested in talking about the team’s success in retaining the services of youth international, Willard Kalongonda. The right-back turned down a chance to join champions Dynamos and Mawiwi was convinced that his most-prized assert made the right decision.

“Willard is a very good player who realized that he would continue to develop his game if he remained with us. We are pleased that he made the decision to stay and we will continue to guide him,” said Mawiwi.
