Unhappy with media exposure: Nox

Local musicians are not getting any recognition due to the media’s inability to support the country’s talent, urban grooves star, Enock “Nox” Guni, said.

Nox blames the country’s media houses for lack of exposure for rising musicians.

Nox castigated the local media for promoting international musicians at the expense of local stars.

“For our Zimbabwean urban music to be recognized in Africa, we need support. The first port of call is the media. We won’t succeed, if we don’t get support from our own media. The more we promote our own talent the better our chances of being recognised.”

“In the 2012 top 100 on most local stations, you will find eight international tracks in the top 10 and only two local songs.”

The “Ndinonyara” hit maker said the media was destroying the industry by causing unnecessary division amongst artists.

“There is so much talent in Zim. We might actually have some of the greatest talent in Africa but we will never realize that, if we do not support it. Controversy is good but there is no point in sensationalising issues between artists,” he said.

The local media has been awash with headlines of feuds between various musicians such as Winky D and Sniper Storm, Sulumani and Tryson Chimbetu, Maskiri and Stunner amongst others.
