I suggest we name the team the HONEY BADGERS. I think this is befitting as this animal is Africa’s most fearless animal, despite its small size. It is even listed as the “most fearless animal in the world” in the Guinness Book of Records.
Its skin is remarkably loose, and allows it to turn and twist freely, especially to turn on an attacker when held. It is almost impervious to arrows or spears. Even a blow from machete can’t scratch the skin. Honey Badgers are very intelligent animals and one of the few known to have used tools to their benefit. They have powerful jaws and sharp teeth, which can crush even a tortoise shell.
For some reason Bafana Bafana adopted the same colours as ours – yellow and green and everyone knows that they have somewhat overshadowed us. I suggest we change to another strip drawn from our national flag, e.g. red and white. Come on Zimbabwe it’s time for a fresh start! – Dr. Webster Musiya, by email
