A disabled pet piglet called Chris P Bacon – with his own ‘toy’ wheelchair – looks set to become a star on the internet.
The ten-year-old pig has his own Facebook page and has already attracted more than 1,000 followers.
And fans of the little piglet are following his progress on YouTube where clips have notched up thousands more hits.
Owner Len Lucero says Chris P Bacon was born with a congenital defect which means he has no use of his hind limbs.
He has made him a two-wheeled harness out of a children’s K’Nex building set which he is using to get around.
Lucero says the Walkin’ Wheels organisation which helps disabled pets has kindly donated him a “cool wheelchair”.
But he added: “Chris weighs 2lbs so he is too small now but should grow into it before long. For now we’ll have to stick with K’Nex.”
Giant python babysits for boy, 13
A Chinese family has raised eyebrows with their choice of babysitter for their 13-year-old son – a 15ft giant python.
Azhe Liu, from Dongguan, Guangdong province, was born six years after his dad Chan Liu brought home a python egg and hatched it out.
“I’d always thought them the most beautiful creatures and I was interested to see what would happen when my son came along,” explained Chan.
Instead of being frightened, Azhe would often cuddle up to the cold-blooded 220lbs predator, finding comfort in his cooling coils on hot summer days.
“After a while we were certain the snake wouldn’t hurt him and we began to leave them together alone. They really are inseperable,” said dad Chan.
Eventually the family began to look on the Burmese python as a kind of nanny, who’d look out for their son when he was alone.
“I don’t think many kidnappers would tangle with her,” said dad Chan. Now Azhe wants to train as a zoologist so he can work with snakes all the time.
“She’s very careful with me and never squeezes to hard. If people understood animals more they’d be kinder to each other,” he said.
Sacked workers hijack Twitter account
Staff at HMV used the company’s official Twitter account to announce their own “mass execution” as administrators axed nearly 190 jobs.
The first indication that something was amiss came with a tweet that said: “We’re tweeting live from HR where we’re all being fired! Exciting!!”
The next message from the official Twitter feed read: “There are over 60 of us being fired at once! Mass execution, of loyal employees who love the brand.”
A minute later one of the employees wrote: “Sorry we’ve been quiet for so long. Under contract, we’ve been unable to say a word, or – more importantly – tell the truth.”
The next tweet said: “Just overheard our managing director (he’s staying, folks) ask “How do I shut down Twitter.”
Then 15 minutes later, all the offending tweets were removed. Shortly afterwards, administrators Deloitte put out a statement confirming the job losses.
The administrators, who were appointed on 15 January, are working on a rescue deal for the company ,which has 223 stores and more than 4,000 employees.
Driver reversed into classroom
It looks like this driver really needs to go back to school – after she reversed into a classroom in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Arianne Meier, 64, told police her foot slipped while she was parking and hit the throttle, sending her plunging through the school’s glass walls at high speed.
After demolishing a classroom entrance, she finally came to a halt balanced on the Unterlochli School’s staircase.
“Luckily the school was closed at the time. That area would normally have been crowded with children going to and from class.
“The driver had minor injuries and was treated for shock,” said a police spokesman.
