Biti will update his constituency on progress made so far regarding the crafting of the draft constitution and MDC-T’s preferred referendum voting pattern.

The referendum is expected to be held on 16 March. After the Kamfinsa meeting, Biti will proceed to address a constituency rally in the afternoon at Mukandabhutsu Shopping Centre in Msasa.

Global Political Agreement political parties are all seeking a “Yes Vote” for the referendum while the National Constitutional Assembly led by Lovemore Madhuku is urging people to “Vote No.”

Parliament recently adopted the draft constitution which Copac Co-chairperson Douglas Mwonzora described as the best on the continent if not the world over.

“The adopted draft constitution is one of the best on the continent if not across the globe. It is a people owned document designed not to please interests of individual political parties but expectations of the people,” Mwonzora told Parliament.

He said the draft constitution should be taken to its owners without unnecessary delays. MDC Secretary General Priscilla Misihairambwi-Mushonga said people should “Vote Yes” for the draft constitution.

“Some people have unfairly criticised the draft, yet in essence, it makes a lot of sense to those who have lived in Zimbabwe for some time and experienced our political crises.”

Some positive changes in the draft include limited presidential powers, granting of dual citizenship and devolution of power, among many others.
