HARARE- Telecommunications company, NetOne, has dragged a local ginning firm, Insing Investments (Pvt) (Ltd), to court over non-payment of cellular phone services.
NetOne claimed it is owed $4, 440,48 for cellular phone services rendered to Insing Investments between January 2009 and June 2009.
The Director of Insing Investments, Nirmal Kumar Bolia, is cited as the second respondent. According to the court papers, by written agreement on 1 April 2004, NetOne agreed to render cellular services to Insing Investments and Bolia stood as guarantor.
Insing Investments incurred an unpaid bill of $4,4440,48 and despite demands by NetOne, the defendants have refused to pay the debt.
The firm is demanding interest at a rate of five percent from July 2, 2012. – Edgar Gweshe
Pastor accused of rape
KWEKWE – Living Christ Ministries church pastor, Edwin Sibanda, has appeared before the courts on charges of raping his maid.
Prosecutor Vimbai Chinoda said between November and December last year, Sibanda proposed love to the maid who is a minor. She, however, turned him down.
It is the state’s case that in the days that followed, the clergyman forced himself on the young girl. Due to the trauma of the offences, the girl fled to stay for few days with a relative before attempting to commit suicide. The case came to light when the aunt quizzed her over the incident.
A report was then made to police leading to the arrest of the man. He is denying the charges.
Magistrate Tendai Manuwere remanded Sibanda out of custody on $100 bail.
Trial is expected to kick start next week when the state brings witnesses in for testimonies. – Brenna Matendere
